FIRST National Symposium on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs)

What we eat today is quietly shaping the health crisis of tomorrow.

Did you know that unhealthy diets are now among the leading drivers of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) such as diabetes, hypertension, stroke, cancer, and heart disease in Cameroon? Studies show that many Cameroonians are increasingly shifting from traditional diets to highly processed foods, sugary drinks, excess oils, and unhealthy eating habits. In one study, over 93% of participants were found to have unhealthy diets.

This is why GOOFIRM is still reflecting on the impactful conversations and connections made during the FIRST National Symposium on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) held in Yaoundé on April 8–9, 2026 at Hilton Hotel in Yaoundé and organized by RADA which we were fully a part of.

The symposium brought together major voices and stakeholders including representatives from the Prime Minister’s office, WHO, Civil Society Organizations, health experts, and development actors to discuss urgent and practical solutions to the growing NCD burden in Cameroon.

Beyond the meetings and presentations, it was a powerful reminder that:
Prevention matters.
Healthy lifestyles matter.
Community awareness matters.
And collaboration matters.

The conversations were eye-opening, inspiring, and a call for stronger action towards healthier communities and healthier futures.

At GOOFIRM, we remain committed to promoting health awareness, prevention, and community wellbeing because health is not just a personal issue;, it is a community responsibility.
