GOOFIRM has been granted United Nations ECOSOC Special Consultative Status since 2025! 
This is a major achievement and a moment of great pride for GOOFIRM, our partners, volunteers, communities, and everyone who has contributed to our journey of service, advocacy, and sustainable development.
Being granted Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) represents an important recognition of GOOFIRM’s commitment to advancing issues that matter to communities and contributing to global development conversations.
WHAT DOES THIS STATUS MEAN?
ECOSOC is one of the principal organs of the United Nations responsible for advancing international cooperation on economic, social, and environmental issues. Through consultative status, civil society organizations can contribute their knowledge, experiences, and perspectives to relevant UN processes and discussions.
For GOOFIRM, this milestone creates new opportunities to:
Participate in relevant UN meetings, conferences and forums Contribute civil-society perspectives to discussions on sustainable development Submit relevant written contributions and statements in accordance with UN procedures Engage with international organizations, governments and other civil-society actors Strengthen partnerships around the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Bring community-level experiences and solutions to broader international discussions Advocate for inclusive, equitable and sustainable development
