SOUTH WEST REGION FIRST 2026 REGIONAL COORDINATION MEETING

The first 2026 Regional Coordination Meeting of the South West Region continued today the 29 January 2025, bringing together health authorities, partners, and stakeholders to review sector performance and strengthen collaboration.

The Regional Delegate of Public Health Dr EKO EKO Filbert in his opening word, reiterated the vision of a healthy South West Region with auto-sufficient health development for a healthy population, while appreciating partners for their continued support.

Representing the Governor, Mrs. MBEMBE Vanessa emphasized the need for collective strategies to address key challenges such as limited infrastructure and health personnel. She highlighted the meeting’s theme: Integrating Traditional Medicine to Strengthen Primary Health Care and Advance Universal Health Coverage, describing it as timely and crucial. On behalf of H.E the Governor, she urged everyone to play his/her role to make sure health is enjoyed by all.

Participants reviewed 2025 performance, discussed system challenges, and examined the legal framework regulating traditional medicine in Cameroon.

The meeting sets a strong foundation for improved coordination and better health outcomes for communities across the South West Region.

In his closing remarks, the Regional Delegate highlighted key points to be monitored:

– Health campaigns in the community conducted by foreign teams

– ⁠Training in professional schools under the Minsk of Public Health
