Water and gender, where water flows… equality grows!

World Water Day 2026 was not just a celebration for us at GOOFIRM, it was a moment of real connection, real learning, and real impact in the communities of Ewongo, Wotutu, and Bonadikombo.

Together with the Ministry of Water and Energy and amazing CSO partners including UNICEF, we went straight to the source, the water catchments that keep these communities alive. And guess what? The energy was incredible!

From lively discussions to shared experiences, we worked hand-in-hand with local water committees to:

🌿 Rethink how we protect our water sources
👩🏽‍🤝‍👨🏾 Push for inclusive participation—because women’s voices matter in water management
💬 Exchange ideas, challenges, and community-driven solutions

One thing was clear:
👉 When communities take ownership, change becomes unstoppable.
👉 When women are included, systems become stronger.

This year’s theme reminded us of a powerful truth
Water is life, but equality is power. And when both flow together, communities thrive.

To Ewongo, Wotutu, and Bonadikombo: thank you for your openness, your energy, and your commitment to protecting what matters most. 💙

Let’s keep the momentum going because this is how we build a future where no one is left behind.
